What a treat! North Frisco will be the home of a JR Newman Development called Newman Village located on 1.5 million sq.ft.in northwest Frisco. A light colored brick with buff mortar and cast stone post caps create the perimeter of this pre-zoned gated Super Community and Retail/Restaurant Connection. Nestled between the north side of El Dorado Parkway to the south side of Panther Creek Parkway and west of Legacy Drive, Newman Village will attract the residents of our West Frisco communities for sure. Forward thinking Newman Village will highlight a vast enigma of mixed use opportunities that will accommodate your needs as a homeowner, office worker, or shopper. The village is going to intertwine space for retail, office, restaurant, residential, hotel, and civic use ordained in a modern, urban design with lush landscaping and continuity.
Green Building Enforcer:
If you are a resident in the upscale single family dwellings or surrounding townhome and live/work units you will have direct walking access to the commercial portion of Newman Village. The developers of Newman Village wanted to create an opportunity for encouraging healthy lifestyle by creating a "compact, pedestrian-friendly environment to allow residents and visitors to walk to shops, services, events, eliminating traffic and promoting interaction." By offering bike trails, wide sidewalks and a possible village transit system, Newman Village will encourage social activity, physical activity, and environmental protection which is essential for most Friscoites! The development plan is making headlines in Green Building by enforcing all buildings to qualify for the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System. LEED is a "nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings." There are six categories for the LEED qualification including:
- Sustainable Sites
- Water Efficiency
- Energy and atmosphere
- Materials and Resources
- Indoor Air Quality
- Innovation and Design
Streets and Village Green:
Newman Village will be surrounded by the center point, currently being called the Village Green, and the community will revolve around it. There can be opportunities for live music venues, plays, classes, and other community interest activities at the Village Green-but we will not know for sure what they are until the grand opening sometime in 2009. The street layout will be designed as a grid and will encourage low traffic flow with inset parking spaces and multiple bike docking areas. The main street is to be called Town Square Loop and will wrap around the circular Village Green taking from the main check-in entrance at El Dorado to the back of the community at Panther Creek Pkwy.
Schools:
A future elementary school should be built soon, connecting to the far west side of Newman Village and the already built Griffin Middle School is literally across the street. Currently, Wakeland High School is just a tad southeast of Legacy/El Dorado intersection, but another High School off of Panther Creek Parkway and Teel Parkway is being built currently called Lone Star High School. The quality of residents that will be interested in residing in Newman Village will fit the prestige and family interest that is a staple in the Frisco school system.
